Chateau Montelena 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon The Montelena Estate 14.1%
Even if the vintage says 2014, this is old school-style Napa Cab. Evergreen notes of Cabernet Sauvignon make a solid first impression, followed by the deeply ripe black currant and blackberry flavors that explode on the palate. There are also notes of heather and warm red brick. The fruit-filled palate is predominantly balanced by racy acidity while the curvy tannins rest in the background. This is much, much, much too young to approach now, but it will evolve beautifully in the years to come. Do not, I beg you – risk…not so much disappointment but rather lack of the astonishment…that it will certainly show - trying it too early on.

Mi Sueño 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 14.5%
This svelte and pretty Napa Cabernet is supremely approachable now. It will have broad appeal for its rich fruit flavors, stylishly integrated oak tones, sleek tannins and balanced acidity. The only distraction from sheer joy is the noticeable and slightly prickly alcohol. While I find it a bit pokes out a bit, most imbibers won’t notice. They will focus on the exuberantly ripe black plums,
