Properly Robust Bandol Rosé from Domaine de la Bégude
Domaine de la Bégude is run by the seventh generation of the Tari Family, which hails from Château Giscours in Bordeaux's Margaux. As such, not only is this deeply-colored rosé typical of Bandol, it is also akin to the clairette style of rosé from Bordeaux. This Bandol Rosé is truly a rosé for all seasons.

Domaine de la Bégude 2020 Bandol 12.5%
Composed of 70% Mourvèdre with an even split of Grenache and Cinsault finishing out the blend, this wine's robust core comes not only from its grapes but also its winemaking. The initial fermentation occurs in stainless steel with fine lees aging before the wine is transferred into large, neutral oak barrels for 18 months. This last move allows the wine to take on additional texture - in addition to that provided by Mourvèdre's tannins.
The result is a robust, flavorful rosé that can take on more flavorful dishes, including red meat, but is also a wine with the concentration and structure to harmonize and improve with time.
Tastng of blood orange peel, grenadine and rhubarb with a light twinge of persimmon skin, this is an impressively full-bodied wine for only 12.5% abv. Finishing with a lightly salty after-taste, vaguely dry tannins and imbedded but balanced acidity, this is a minx of a wine! Very enjoyable in warmer months, this is potentially an even better wine to take through shoulder seasons and even into hearty winter fare.
