The Impressive Côte Mas Rosé Aurore 2019

88*
Côté Mas 2019 Pays d’Oc Rosé Aurore Sud de France 12.5% $12.99 / 1 L
This is the third Côté Mas that I have tasted in the last few years. The wines show clear familial style, but the 2019 is the most sophisticated yet. Unlike the 2016 and 2018, no candy notes surface at super chilly temperatures in this 2019 blend of 50% Grenache Noir, 30% Cinsault and 20% Syrah. Even a light chill does seem to mute the wine's aromas, but its flavors are resolutely vibrant. Delicate field strawberries, white peach peel and cantaloupe lead the palate. The mid-palate is balanced with subtle but refreshing acidity and a lightly pithy frame that gives the wine lift and a wee touch of mouthwatering, tannic bite. Moderate and minerally on the finish, this Pays d'Oc goes a very, very long way for the wallet. As I have written before, this is a wine that can be served with confidence to friends and family for sipping solo or for food pairing. I've even given it a * as a personal go-to, value rosé.
