New Deliciousness From the Sokol Blosser Cellar

Sokol Blosser 2014 Chardonnay Dundee Hills
This wine is impressively balanced with just enough of everything that most folks think to be typical of Chardonnay. There’s a light liveliness on the palate with hints of brioche and bitter nut peel. Toasted apples and roasted walnuts follow – almost strudel like, but without the added sugar. The palate is mid-weight with the lightest creaminess and only a touch of glycerol. Green apple peel on the finish gives the wine terrific lift. There’s a lightly sandy finish on the wine with some granular texture. Enjoy this wine’s joyous youth!

Sokol Blosser 2013 Pinot Noir Estate Dundee Hills
Very Pinot-y. This mid-depth, ruby-colored Pinot Noir is vinous and juicy with blueberries accents gracing the delicious onslaught of baked black and red cherries. The tannins are soft and cozy and are accompanied by thoroughly integrated and non-invaseive acidity. This might be a bit gooey (meaning it’s a bit relaxed in structure) for aging, but it shows very well in its frisky youth with lots of layers and very little discernable new oak. Moreover, that “gooey” character makes it too drinkable to bother to age it!

Sokol Blosser 2013 Pinot Noir Estate Orchard Block Dundee Hills
This is much too young to open now. Had I only known! This bottling brims with candied red plums and sweet red cherry pie filling. Smooth and lush, it’s almost bouncy with its vibrant, youthfully energetic fruit. The feathery tannins glide across the palate and the lilting acidity keeps the well-balanced, medium alcohol in check. Layer after layer unfolds on the medium-plus finish. This is a feisty kiddo now that needs some time to settle down and expand its horizons further.
