Maeli Colli Euganei

Maeli 2014 Bianco Infinito Veneto IGT
This is a highly unusual blend of Moscato and Chardonnay vinified to dryness. Harmonious yet full of contrasts, this smells of Moscato but tastes like Chardonnay. Light in body and dry from start to finish, I can only describe it as the unlikely but enticing combination of Moscato d’Asti and Premier Cru Chablis. (Do not try this combination at home! Buy this wine instead!) Its flavors are moderately layered but its finish doesn’t give up easily. It may not age well as the Moscato high tones are likely delicate, but this should be lots of fun over the next year or so. Enjoy its peach skin, baked yellow plums, roses and sweet spice in its youth!

Maeli 2014 Moscato Giallo Fior d’Arancio Colli Euganei
This wine’s lovely name refers to orange flowers and perfectly describes its smell. The palate hums with the energy of tangerines, orange zest and chamomile tea. In addition, its bubbles are as delicate as its sweetness, even at a rather classic level of 116 grams per liter of residual sugar. There’s so much vitality in its low, 3.3 pH and high TA of 6.8 grams per liter, that this wine is more about drinkability and vibrancy than sweetness. The balance is brilliant; just don’t miss this wine’s youthful exuberance.
